Open burners need to get permits starting on Friday

Starting Friday and through June 30, open burning will require a burn permit, according to the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Interagency Burn Permit Center.
Burning permits are available two ways:
1) On the Internet at www.firesafekalispell.com.
Fill out the online application and a permit will be generated and e-mailed to you, and you can print it on your home printer. Burning permits are valid for 10 days per issuance and can be renewed for additional 10-day periods.
2) Those without Internet access can seek assistance at one of the following offices, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.:
n Flathead City-County Health Department, second floor, Earl Bennett Building, 1035 First Ave. W., Kalispell
n Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, 2250 U.S. 93 N., Kalispell.
n Bigfork Rural Fire District, 810 Grand Dr. Call 837-4590 prior to a visit since firefighters may be out on a call.
Burn permits are not valid within the city limits of Whitefish, Kalispell and Columbia Falls.
