C-Falls runners practice Monday

Cross country practice at Columbia Falls High School begins Monday at 7 a.m.

Runners are to report to the west side of the school in running attire and should bring a water bottle.

Individuals must have a completed physical to practice.

Lawler signs with UM Western

DILLON - Auna Lawler, a 5-foot-6 guard from Eureka, has signed a Frontier Conference/NAIA letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Montana Western.

Lawler averaged eight points per game her senior season while earning first team all-conference honors.

"Auna is excited about being part of our program and brings a willingness to work hard on and off the court," UM Western coach Cara Cocchiarella said. "Auna will also contribute to our tradition of academic excellence."

Lawler also competed in volleyball at Eureka, earning all-conference honors. Academically, she graduated with a 3.46 GPA.

Also signing with Western were Rheanna Padden, a 5-8 guard from Thompson Falls, and Jessica Paske, a 5-6 point guard from Drummond.

Ace for Dennehy at Buffalo Hill

Paul Dennehy of Billings used an 8-iron to ace the 151-yard 16th hole at Buffalo Hill Golf Club on Wednesday.

Witnessing Dennehy's first hole-in-one were Bob Applegate, Paul Kusler and Joe Sullivan of Kalispell and John Foley of Missoula.

X-country cycling race Sunday

The Herron Park Cross Country Race will take place Sunday at 11 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Flathead Cycling Race Team.

There are seven races scheduled - three each for men and women and one for juniors - and vary in length from eight miles to 24.

There is no entry fee for juniors, but $20 for men and women.

The course is a challenging combination of double track and single track with easy technical sections along with short sections of steep descent and a few switchbacks.

Registration is set for race day from 9-10:30 a.m. at Herron Park.
