Glenn G. Allen
Glenn G. Allen, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away August 28, 2009, in Spokane. He and his beautiful wife, Barbara, moved to Spokane two years ago from Kalispell to be near their children.
Glenn was born in Paducah, Texas, to Jesse and Lela Pearl Allen. He served in the Korean War and remained close to many of his Army buddies.
After discharge, he focused his career on diesel engine repairs and eventually became the proud owner/operator of Alpine Diesel Engines in Kalispell. Glenn ran his business exactly as he conducted his life … honest, fair, trustworthy, and dependable. He was a very good man with a great and witty sense of humor and huge compassion for others in need.
Glenn and his beautiful wife, Barbara, joyfully volunteered numerous hours with the Kalispell Meals on Wheels program until Barbara's health declined. Glenn would gather, chop, and deliver wood to the needy and helped many motorists stranded on the side of the road. He loved people and was the first to volunteer if anyone needed help. He enjoyed contributing to the community and was an active member of the Elks, Moose, VFW, and Shriners.
Glenn is survived by his four children, Peggy and her husband, Russ Rieben, Cindy and her husband, Tom Filipy, Steve Osborne, and Leslie Osborne-Allen; grandchildren, Julie Gilmore, Tom Howard, and Tim Streets; great-grandchildren, Eric, Josie, Tyree, Noah, and Leah; his sisters, Joyce Campbell, Edna Stutzman, and Jonnye Riggen; and his brother, Louie Allen.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Barbara; his parents, Jesse and Lela Pearl Allen; his sister, LaVenia Searcy; and brothers, William Allen, Melvin Allen, and Truman Allen.
Glenn loved a good game of dominos, children, and animals.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Shriners Hospital or the Humane Society and/or any animal rescue organization.
