STEVENSVILLE - The defending state champs are back on the field and back to winning.
Cree Maloney scored two goals and the Libby Loggers boys soccer team blanked Stevensville 4-0 in their Class A nonconference season-opener on Saturday.
Maloney, Libby's second-leading scorer last season, scored in the first half off a pass from Nick Reny. Reny added another assist later in the match and a goal of his own off a Dan Webster pass. Maloney sealed the win with a free kick goal in the final minutes.
"We were a little slow coming out that first half, call it first-game jitters," second-year Libby coach Charlie Webster said.
Libby has made the playoffs the last two years and returns six starters.
