Acquaintance accused of theft

Suspicious that an acquaintance may have taken the saw, tool bag, stapler, a couple nailers, two air hoses and other items that were missing from his garage, a man on Third Avenue East North drove to a local hotel, where an acquaintance had taken the man's children for an afternoon swim Saturday. He spotted some of the items in the back of the acquaintance's Blazer, so he blocked the vehicle in with his van and called Kalispell police. The suspect was arrested on a felony warrant; police are investigating the theft.

A woman who had been drinking knocked on the door of a Ninth Avenue West residence Saturday night to say that her sister was being beaten up next door, then left. The resident got no answer when she knocked on the neighbor's door, but she did hear yelling. The homeowner gave permission to search the home but officers did not find a suspect. Investigation continues.
