Cecilia Marie Combs Stap, 64
Cecilia Marie Combs Stap went into the hands of the Lord on Nov. 29, 2009, at home. She was born July 7, 1945, at the Kalispell General Hospital, the second of seven children, to Cecil and Fredricka Combs. She was raised here in the Flathead but grew up in the Deer Park area, where she attended elementary school as well. She then went on to graduate with the Class of 1963 at Flathead High School. Through the years she had a varied range of interests. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for 34 years, and had a love for hunting, fishing and camping as well. She was also a die-hard Denver Broncos football fan. She never missed a game! Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Freddie Combs; two sisters, Sherry Jones and Darlene Walter; a brother, Douglas Combs; and her grandmothers, Melvina Combs and Elva Davis. She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, William Stap; a son, Tyler; a daughter, Heather; a son-in-law, Daniel Devine; and three grandchildren who were the love and joy of her life, Hayley, Alyssa and Jared Devine. She is also survived by three sisters, Diane Bowersox of Washington and her husband, Terry, Carleen Hutchings and her husband, Mark, and Faye Kerzman; as well as numerous special nieces and nephews. She also had two very special friends in her travels, Connie Downing of Kalispell and Gloria Henderson, also of Kalispell; a very wonderful mother-in-law, Phyllis Stap, of May City, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Lori Visintainer of Craig, Colo., and Linda Wingate of Fort Collins, Colo. Cremation has taken place at her request and a celebration of her life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at the Eagles.
