Flathead County sheriff

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a call about some visitors on hole 15 at the Village Greens Golf Course around 5 p.m. Tuesday. They apparently had no interest in playing golf, but may have been tempted by the greens as they were horses. Their owner collected them shortly thereafter.

In a recent vehicle vs. bus incident, a District 5 school bus backed over a fire hydrant, causing flooding along Lakeshore Drive.

A dark red Jeep Cherokee was reportedly swerving all over U.S. 2 West. The caller thought it might have been a drunk driver. However, the car was not seen again and no arrests were made.

On Foothill Road, an argument broke out between residents of a house. A deputy arrived and gave one party a ride to a local motel. There were no reported injuries and no arrests were made.

Someone went to his mechanic’s house to get a receipt for recent work and reported being threatened by the mechanic over payment issues. The two plan to sort out the matter in civil court.

A woman called to report that her 17-year-old son angrily marched into the frozen night around 7:30 without a coat and she feared for his safety. The teen apparently went to his father’s house and was OK.

A white van with a ladder was reportedly swerving all over U.S. 93 near mile marker 101 around 8:30 Tuesday night, and the caller feared it was a drunk driver.

There was a report of three people arguing outside a Lakeside bar, but when deputies arrived no one was there.

A man with outstanding warrants was picked up near a pub around 11:30 p.m.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received 119 calls between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kalispell police

Kalispell Police got a call of a hit and run around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after a white Chevrolet Suburban clipped the side mirror of a white GMC Yukon and drove off. The driver of the Yukon pursued what he believed was the offender, getting the license plate number in the process. Police tracked down the owner of the plate, but the owner maintained he hadn’t been in the area where the incident occurred.

An employee at an inn south of Kalispell wanted a man evicted from his room.

A gun that had been pawned at a shop off Idaho Street was found to have been stolen.

A suspicious man walked through an unlocked front door at a residence on Empire Loop. The man of the house chased out the offender, who then disappeared.

After finding her home unlocked upon returning home, a woman feared her home on Second Avenue had been broken into and called police, but said she couldn’t remember if she had locked the door originally. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

A strange man knocked on a woman’s door and asked if she used Kleenex, then tried to give her a handipack of Kleenex. She refused the offer and shut the door, then heard the man yell, “can you help me out?” He apparently then left, but didn’t go far. A woman who lived a few blocks away called police to report a similar incident about half an hour later. Police determined the man was a vacuum salesman.

Following a few drinks, two people began an altercation on Fourth Avenue. An officer counseled and separated them.

A few minutes after midnight, a man claimed he saw someone steal a bike from his neighbor’s yard. Upon arrival, an officer saw nothing suspicious and reported that the bike had not been stolen.

Unknown suspects threw a rock through a window on First Avenue West.

A probation officer found marijuana on a parolee at the Flathead County Detention Center.

Tools taken from an unlocked toolbox on Seventh Avenue were found for sale at a pawn shop on West Idaho Street.

A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Fourth Street West.

Kalispell Police Department received 52 calls between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish Police arrested a man, 57, for driving with a suspended license during a routine traffic stop at around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.

There were 29 log entries between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls Police had no incidents to report. The department reported 10 log entries between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alarms

A house fire was reported along the 1500 block of Seventh Avenue West, but when deputies arrived it was found to be a small fire outside the residence. It was quickly controlled and contained.
