Two dogs found frozen
Two dogs froze to death Monday night in Hungry Horse during temperatures that dropped below zero.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call mentioning concern that some dogs had frozen to death.
Upon arrival at the Canyon Road residence, deputies found two female pit bull or Rottweiler cross dogs frozen solid beneath a green sleeping bag in a kennel.
The dogs appeared to be underweight but had no visible wounds.
It appeared the animals died as a result of the frigid weather.
There was a doghouse in the kennel, but it was fiberglass without adequate insulation.
No citations have been issued; the incident is still under investigation by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.
