1,500 houses lose power in West Valley

Flathead Electric Cooperative

About 1,500 people were affected by a power outage in the West Valley area that started around 5:30 p.m. Friday. The cause has yet to be determined; crews from Flathead Electric Cooperative worked to restore power.

Flathead County sheriff

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies received a complaint regarding an obscene text received.

On Shady Lane, a man alleged someone had ambushed him, sprayed him with pepper spray, then stole his van. Deputies found the van nearby.

Several gunshots in the Conrad Drive area were reported by a resident Saturday morning. Deputies didn’t locate any suspects.

A house on Saint Andrew’s Drive was paintballed. No suspects have been located.

Following a family dispute at a residence on Foy’s Lake Road, a youth was arrested for probation violation.

Five vehicles reportedly slid off the road.

Deputies received 137 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kalispell police

A white Nissan Sentra was seen spinning brodies in a loop off Bluecrest Drive. Kalispell police saw tracks, but the vehicle was long gone by the time they arrived.

Two women, ages 58 and 19, were arrested for shoplifting at a store off U.S. 93.

A shoeless small boy in pajamas was seen walking several blocks along U.S. 93 around 8 p.m. Friday. Police found the boy and returned him to his foster parents.

A 17-year-old teen was arrested for embezzlement.

Police arrested a man for shoplifting at an Idaho Street grocery store Saturday morning.

 Police received 63 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Whitefish police

Soon after midnight Friday, Whitefish police arrested a man, 22, for driving under the influence, and his female passenger, 19, for alcohol possession.

A 32-year-old man was arrested for criminal mischief and trespassing along Central Avenue.

Police received 32 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Columbia Falls police

During a routine traffic stop, Columbia Falls police arrested a 25-year-old man for probation violation. The man was also cited for endangering the welfare of a child, as he had given alcohol to a child in the vehicle.

Officers received 16 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
