Douglas B. Remick, 67

Douglas B. Remick, 67, a longtime Flathead Valley resident, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at his home in Helena. Doug was born on Dec. 2, 1941, in a farmhouse near Red Lake Falls, Minn. He was a retired lieutenant colonel from the Montana Army National Guard and an insurance agent for American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company. Doug was a proud member of the Hibernians and Eagles. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved spending summers at the lake fishing in his boat, the Leaking Lena, loved hunting, and his Minnesota Vikings. Doug is survived by his daughter, Renee Nowfel, of Leesburg, Va.; sons, Scott Remick and Shelley of San Diego, Ryan Remick and Tina of London, Kyle Bitney of Kalispell, and Cory Bitney of Missoula; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Bernard Remick, of Red Lake Falls, Minn.; siblings, Sylvia Morey and Bruce of Hamilton, Andrew Remick of Helena, Suzanne Combs and Roger of Peoria, Ariz., Dwight Remick of Ritzville, Wash., and Craig Remick and Jo of Omaha, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline (Amiot) Remick; and his brother, Ronald Remick. His funeral Mass took place on Dec. 4, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Helena. He was buried at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Fort Harrison with graveside military honors. Arrangements were handled through Hagler-Anderson Funeral Home in Helena.
