Counterfeit $100 for burger goes bad

An alert employee at Wendy’s figured out a $100 bill tendered for food was counterfeit and called Kalispell police. The man passing the $100 Sunday evening said he received it from a snow-machine sale but took off when the police were called. A chase ensued by police and a man was arrested for probation violation. Counterfeiting charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

A local box store complained of receiving counterfeit money on Monday.

Numerous sliding-car accidents were investigated Sunday and Monday.

A woman reported her purse stolen at a casino in South Kalispell.  Her purse contained her debit card and Social Security card.

A green Skidoo was stolen from a residence on Eighth Avenue West.

A man called dispatch and said he was injured in the kitchen and the basement was on fire on Fifth Avenue West. It turned out the crackling noise was related to a flood in the basement.

Police officers responded to a complaint of a sexual assault in Kalispell. The allegation is under investigation.

A driver complained of a hit-and-run on Idaho. The driver was tracked down at a local thrift store.

A driver caught in a whiteout reported that a man using a snowblower was spraying cars on First Avenue West. He was done when officers arrived.

Flooding from a broken water main added to the hazardous conditions Monday morning on the west side of town.

Police received a report of a stolen dirt bike from a house on Third Avenue West.

A vigilant homeowner noticed someone looking into cars with a flashlight Sunday evening. The suspicious person claimed he was looking for his cat.

Flathead County sheriff’s deputies welcomed several people with outstanding warrants who came in from the cold to turn themselves in — a continuing benefit of the Internet listings.

Deputies responded to suspicious activity on Second Avenue South in Hungry Horse. It turned out that it was a not-so-suspicious neighbor plowing.
