Some horses just want to roam freely
Flathead County sheriff
From the look of the Flathead County Sheriff’s log, something must have made horses want to run free. Five horses were reportedly running loose in traffic along Elm Park Road around 5:15 p.m Monday. Their owner was able to round them up safely.
Loose horses were also reportedly wandering around Harbin Hill Road. They were rounded up and put safely back into their pasture.
A horse was also found wandering along U.S. 93, but was OK when checked out.
In news concerning people, a neighbor reportedly piled about four feet of snow onto his neighbor’s driveway, blocking in the Magstadt Lane resident.
A stolen car was reported after a woman failed to return a rental 2009 Pontiac to a local car rental company. Authorities are on the lookout for her.
There was a report of a suspicious vehicle parked outside a Hartt Hill Drive residence. The silver Yukon turned out to belong to a Realtor.
A dead deer was reported in the northbound lane of Willow Glen Drive, with drivers having to swerve around it. It was cleared without incident.
A 35-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with a cut finger. No word on the severity of the cut or her current condition.
A suspicious man reportedly walked through a backyard on Ferndale Drive and lay down by the propane tank. He was gone by the time deputies arrived.
An alleged drunk driver drove into, then out of, a ditch, hit a street sign, then sped off along East Edgewood street. He was gone by the time deputies arrived, too.
A $100 counterfeit bill was reportedly passed at a fast-food restaurant off U.S. 2.
Deputies received 160 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Kalispell police
Reportedly drunk and threatening to throw himself in front of traffic on U.S. 93, a man was found by Kalispell police to be sober and not suicidal around 10 p.m. Monday.
A man in his kitchen heard crackling sounds and thought his house was on fire. Upon arrival of police, he learned that the sounds came from a flood in the basement.
A purse was stolen from a restaurant on Airport Road. No suspects.
A blue four-door sedan has reportedly been parked on Indian Trail Road for two weeks. People have had to plow around it.
A male driving a dark blue Ford truck reportedly backed into another vehicle, then took off. The hit vehicle followed in hot pursuit into a parking lot, then waited for an officer to arrive. When an officer arrived, he determined there was no significant damage.
Threatening text messages were reportedly sent from a woman’s soon-to-be ex-husband’s new girlfriend. No charges were filed.
Two vehicles belonging to employees of a local theater were broken into late Monday night.
A man thought to be “under the influence” was leaning against a pop machine inside a hotel on 18th Street. Police arrived a little after 7 a.m. to offer the man a ride, but he refused. He was told to leave the premises.
Two bracelets were stolen from a jewelery store on Main Street.
A woman reportedly paid her attorney in counterfeit bills. When he confronted her, she maintained that she had borrowed the bills from her mother, who received them as a tip while working at a casino. Both parties were advised.
A man reportedly ripping bows off decorations along Main Street was gone by the time police arrived.
A man was arrested around noon Tuesday after engaging in a verbal disturbance at a barber shop.
Police received 60 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Columbia Falls police
Columbia Falls police are looking into a report of drugs found at the junior high school.
Other than that, they reported a pretty quiet day. Officers received 28 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Whitefish police
Whitefish police arrested a man, 35, at his home on Iowa Avenue on a Flathead County warrant for two counts of criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
A 27-year-old woman was arrested on Jennings Avenue on a warrant for contempt of court.
A man, 18, was arrested on Depot Street for criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
Police received 25 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
