Missing woman's body is found near Whitefish

The body of a 44-year-old woman who’d been reported missing was found outside on Highland Drive near Whitefish. Her body has been sent to the state crime lab in Missoula; Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating her death.

The pair of adults reportedly without propane for heat in their fifth-wheel trailer on Pioneer Road had propane and space heaters when a deputy checked on them.

A vehicle won a rare victory when it collided with a moose near Marion Sunday night. No one in the rig was injured; the moose was not so lucky. It was sent to the food bank in Marion.

A couple on Aluminum Drive in Columbia Falls called the sheriff’s office more than once Sunday night and Monday. The initial call came after the man’s girlfriend reportedly tore his shirt and chased him outside. They were encouraged to separate for the evening.

Happy Valley neighbors had been friends until three weeks ago, when one woman allegedly told the other woman’s husband that his wife had cheated on him. Since then, the woman who spilled the beans told deputies, the woman accused of having an affair has harassed her, swerved a car at her and put wood planks with nails pointing up in her driveway. Also, her rabbit died.

A First Avenue West resident was spooked when her garage light turned on, then turned off. She told Kalispell police that she was afraid someone had entered her garage. No one was hiding there when police investigated; the motion light outside the garage may have turned on when a neighbor took out the garbage.

A man was asked to leave the mall after he reportedly made an 8-year-old boy an inappropriate offer in the restroom.

A man asking customers for money outside an East Idaho movie rental store was arrested for criminal trespass.

An ex-boyfriend apparently hasn’t gotten the message that his calls are no longer welcome.

The man who reportedly was peeking in closed shops and trying locked store doors along U.S. 93 North apparently was just scrounging for cigarettes.

A woman said she’d heard a loud bang, then people yelling. A second caller said there were people in the area whom he wanted removed. When an officer arrived on Second Avenue East, one man who was wanted on a warrant was arrested.

One alleged fighter ran away from a bar off U.S. 93 South. The other reportedly suffered a broken arm and nose but refused medical treatment and didn’t want to pursue charges.

A man called police after his wife, who reportedly had been drinking, came home and started hitting and kicking him. He spent the night at a hotel.

Parents whose 16-year-old son wouldn’t get in the car called Columbia Falls police for backup.

Police are investigating a report of possible child abuse.

Police are investigating criminal mischief at a workout facility, where a gym was ransacked, a punching bag ripped open and damage done in a restroom.

An employer has accused a caregiver of stealing a video camera. Whitefish police are investigating.
