Hazel Geneva (Mondy) Hunt, 92

Hazel Geneva (Mondy) Hunt, 92, passed away Dec. 22, 2009, in Sublimity, Ore. She was born in Galata to James and Jessie Mondy. She married Harry S. Hunt of Whitefish on Feb. 2, 1942, in Tacoma, Wash. In 1947 the Hunts returned to Montana where they settled on acreage west of Kalispell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, who died in 1972; sister, Effie Ness; brother, Elmer Bud Mondy; brother, Albert Mondy; and a granddaughter, Katie Hunt. She is survived by a sister, Iva, and John Sherrard, of Conrad; a son, James, and Karen Hunt, of North Pole, Alaska; daughter, Gayle, and Rick McLain, of Belem, Brazil; and a son, J. Steven Hunt, and Kathy, of Salem, Ore.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today, Dec. 31, in Salem, and a graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 4 at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell. A reception will follow at Bethel Baptist Church in Kalispell.
