Group hires new director for government affairs

The Flathead Building Association has hired George Culpepper Jr. as its full-time government-affairs director.

He will oversee local, state and national issues as they relate to the building industry.

Culpepper, 34, most recently was the government-affairs director for the Northwest Montana Association of Realtors.

A native of Anchorage, Alaska, he has a political science degree from Metro State College of Denver.

He worked on Pete Coors' U.S. Senate campaign in 2004 and was a legislative aide in the Colorado House of Representatives. In 2005, Culpepper was campaign manager for the "Committee for a Vibrant Aberdeen" in Aberdeen, S.D.

Culpepper later joined the Realtors Association in Washington state where he served as its political-affairs director.

In 2007, Culpepper joined the Northwest Montana Association of Realtors as their government affairs director advocating on behalf of Realtor and homeowner issues in Northwest Montana.

He recently was appointed to the Flathead County Planning Board and the Clark Fork River Task Force.
