Whitefish businesses and organizations are hosting three public events for several severely injured servicemen arriving for a ski outing at Whitefish Mountain Resort.

The trip was organized through the Wounded Warriors Project, which helps meet the needs of veterans with life-changing injuries.

Warriors coming to Whitefish this week include single and double amputees, one paraplegic serviceman and one blind serviceman. The resort has adaptive instructors ready to equip and teach them to ski.

Public events planned include:

n Welcome reception at 5 p.m. Thursday at Grouse Mountain Lodge.

n No-host reception at 4 p.m. Friday at the Bierstube at Whitefish Mountain Resort.

Plans call for the guests to ski daily Thursday through Tuesday. People interested in providing items for gift baskets should contact Rhonda Knudsvig of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary at cty07427@centurytel.net.

Anyone interested in donating to the Wounded Warrior Project's Whitefish trip should visit skiwhitefish.com/WWP on the Internet.
