Violet Mae Moller, 86
Violet Mae Moller, 86, passed away on Jan. 29, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, where she had lived since March 2005. "God has taken her to a more peaceful place with no pain and suffering ... only sunshine and rainbows." Violet was born at home on July 1, 1922, in Poplar.
She was the only child born to Richard "Dick" and Blanche Neil. She was delivered by her maternal grandmother, Hattie Whitney. Her early childhood was spent in Poplar and when she was 8, her family moved to Roseburg, Ore., to be near the Neil relatives. She spent her junior high school years in Wolf Point, and her high school years in Polson. She loved Polson on Flathead Lake. She always said it was a wonderful place to live as a teenager.
Her marriage proposal from her future husband, Max Moller, came in a letter from the South Pacific along with money to buy her engagement ring. It was two years before he came home to marry Vi. On Nov. 22, 1945, Vi married her childhood sweetheart J. Max Moller at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kalispell.
The first of the couple's two daughters, Kay, was born on Nov. 27, 1947, and Gail was born on Sept. 11, 1950, both in Kalispell.
Violet Mae worked as a secretary for the Daily Inter Lake, the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Daniel Dernbach and Dr. James Kiley. Vi will be remembered by many people for her beautiful decorative painting, which she taught for many years. She was a charter member of the Artists and Craftsmen of the Flathead Valley and also volunteered for many years at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
Vi had many interests. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed being with them. She enjoyed traveling and went to Hawaii several times, as well as Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Belgium.
She loved her flowers, painting, bowling, sewing, needlework, swimming and camping.
Vi was a member of the Central Christian Church and enjoyed her Bible studies and circle. She was also a Lady Elk and supported her husband Max through the chairs to exalted ruler.
Vi moved into Immanuel Lutheran Home in March of 2005. She enjoyed her home there and stayed very busy with all the activities offered the residents. Of course, her artistic abilities took over and she learned ceramics and made many beautiful pieces for her family and friends.
Three years ago Vi started dialysis, and on Jan. 7, she decided to end her treatments and knew that her earthly life would be shortened. Our "Miracle Mom" lived many more days than was expected. We had so many fun talks with Mom about the past and who would be waiting for her in Heaven. She was one strong lady!
"Mom, we will miss you so much, but we will always have our wonderful memories and the great lessons you have taught us!"
Vi's family would like to thank the loving staff at Immanuel Lutheran Home for their wonderful care and friendship while she was a resident there, a special thank you to Pastor Kathie of Immanuel Lutheran Home for all her prayers and support, and to hospice for making her last days more comfortable.
Vi was preceded in death by her husband, Max, in 1978; and her parents, Dick and Blanche Neil.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay and husband, Weldon Plympton, and Gail and husband, Gary Hanson, all of Kalispell; four grandkids, Jeff Plympton of Whitefish, Paul and wife, Kathy Plympton, of Kalispell, Ashlee and husband, David Robison, of Columbia Falls, and Kris Hanson at the University of Montana in Missoula; three great-grandkids, Bryant Plympton of Kalispell, and Madeline and Mark Robison of Columbia Falls; her sister-in-law, JoAnne Ross, and her cousin, Joan Kennedy, both of Kalispell. She is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends.
The family suggests donations be made to the Recreation Department at Immanuel Lutheran Home, 185 Crestline Ave., Kalispell; or to Home Options Hospice, 175 Commons Loop, Suite 100, Kalispell.
Vi's memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Home, 185 Crestline Ave., with Pastor Kathie Larson Phillips officiating. A reception will be after the service.
