When Columbia Falls police attempted to pull him over, a 19-year-old driver punched the gas but didn't get far. He was caught and arrested on suspicion of several charges, including driving under the influence, eluding an officer, reckless driving and resisting arrest. Before going to jail, he was taken to the hospital for evaluation; his combative actions there earned him a disorderly conduct ticket from Whitefish police. The Sheriff's Office also got involved after they discovered the car he'd been pulled over in had been reported stolen in the county.

Columbia Falls officers arrested a man, 49, on suspicion of his fourth or fifth DUI, a felony.

Officers received 26 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kalispell police

Kalispell police arrested the man accused of causing a disturbance with a knife in a motel parking lot. He was ticketed on suspicion of assault with a weapon, but his victim reportedly just needed a bandage.

Officers arrested a man, 28, on suspicion of aggravated assault.

During a traffic stop, officers arrested the 22-year-old driver on suspicion of his second drunken-driving charge and driving with an open container. His passenger, 25, was arrested on a warrant.

A man called police while he was chasing three prowlers through an alley off Seventh Avenue West North.

A traffic stop ended with the driver's arrest on suspicion of his second DUI, driving with a suspended license and Whitefish warrants. The man's female passenger was arrested on a Kalispell warrant.

A vehicle apparently swerved off the street and clipped a house on Second Street West, ripping off siding and knocking over the porch railing in the process.

Officers received 69 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Flathead County sheriff

A caller who is temporarily housing a woman who was abused a few days ago told Flathead County sheriff's deputies the alleged assailant is calling the house.

Concerned after an elderly resident didn't answer the door, a Dawn Drive visitor broke into the house to check on her, only to discover she wasn't home. The resident later returned and reported a burglary.

Deputies counseled neighbors on Magstadt Lane, who apparently can't agree on property boundaries and preferred snow-removal techniques.

A Jeep with a plow that went missing on Swan River Road was found at the Ferndale fire hall. The vehicle was found much as it had been left, with the doors unlocked and the keys inside.

On Mallard Loop in Whitefish, a Subaru Outback - also left unlocked with the keys inside - was stolen.

Checks were reported stolen on Foothill View.

A caller suspects poachers are to blame for the deer heads and feet he found by the Old Steel Bridge.

About $650 was stolen from an unlocked home on North Hilltop Drive in Columbia Falls.

Deputies received 142 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 27-year-old man from Alberta on suspicion of public urination.

A 16-year-old boy allegedly attempting to steal beer from a supermarket was arrested.

Officers received 46 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Alarms

Charred dinners set off fire alarms on Lake Loop Drive and First Avenue West. The Creston and Kalispell fire departments responded, respectively.

Somers Fire Department investigated a "burnt smell" on Bierney Creek Road in Lakeside.

Whitefish ambulance took a woman, who may have imbibed too much, to the hospital.

Columbia Falls Fire Department investigated when all the fire alarms went off, the power flickered and the vents started blowing cold air at a house on Fourth Avenue East. The trouble likely was caused by a kamikaze squirrel that made a transformer explode.
