James A. Martin, 83

James A. Martin, 83, died Feb. 9, 2009, at home in Kalispell. He was born in Pontiac, Mich.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bertha S. Martin, whom he had been married to for 47 years. He has a brother, Stuart B. Martin, residing in Boston; a son, Michael J. Martin, residing in Michigan, and four other children.

Jim was a World War II veteran.

He had worked in the banking industry for more than 40 years.

During his life he was active in figure skating and boating. Three times he piloted his own boat to the San Juan Islands, Wash., and Canada. He also played accordion and did some oil, acrylic and watercolor painting.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned, per his request.
