Larry G. McMichael, 57, died at home in Delta, Utah, on Feb. 15, 2009, after never totally recovering from a stroke he had two years previously. Born in Polson on Oct. 21, 1951, Larry grew up in Montana and graduated high school.

He served three years in the Army, serving in Korea, following college; then returned to Montana.

Larry met and married Sinclair "Sindy" Strait on July 1, 1977, in Billings, and joined an apprenticeship program to become an electrical lineman. After four years he became a journeyman lineman and worked throughout the state of Montana and surrounding areas.

Larry was pleased and thrilled with the birth of his children — daughter, Scire, in 1981; and son, Clinton, in 1984.

Line work in Montana is very seasonal, and in 1985, Larry went to work for the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

At DWP, Larry went through various in-house schooling, worked different departments and was picked up as a foreman, but decided to transfer to distribution and bid an opening in the Delta, Utah, area for DWP, in 1995.

Larry loved to be outdoors and enjoyed driving around the West desert, patrolling the towers. He worked hard at everything he did. He had a wonderful laugh, and loved to make other people laugh with his stories and jokes.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sindy; children, Scire of Delta, and Clinton and Katrina of Salt Lake City; five grandchildren; his mother, Gloria McMichael, and grandmother, Myrtle Strodtbeck, both of Kalispell; brothers, Wayne and Teri of Kalispell, Glenn and Karen of Draper, Utah, and Arlie of Glasgow; and sister, Janice, of Kalispell.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Great Basin Museum, P.O. Box 550, Delta, UT 84624.

A memorial service will be planned in the near future.
