Peggy Christensen at A Ray of Hope places cash donations at the top of her wish list for helping families find temporary and then permanent housing.

"We need to build a reserve," she said.

Other items the outreach needs for its clients are:

n People to help with budget counseling.

n Bedding, food and household items when a family gets a home.

n Help finding work and cars to get people to their jobs.

n Tutors to teach reading and writing skills.

n Volunteers to teach men and women cooking skills.

n Help answering phones and greeting people.

n Food and clothing donations, especially cold-weather protection such as long underwear, coats and insulated boots.

Christensen encourages anyone interested in helping to call her at 755-4673. She said one couple contributes by sorting, then storing donated boots and coats in their garage.

Send cash donations to A Ray of Hope, P.O. Box 5407, Kalispell, MT 59903 or drop them off at the shelter, 46 Fifth Ave. W.
