West Yellowstone mushers prevail at Sled Dog Days

Two West Yellowstone mushers -Roger "Rodeo" Vincent and Charlotte Mooney -hung on to their first-day leads to win the Second Annual Flathead Sled Dog Days races Sunday.
The winners were determined by the fastest combined times of Saturday's and Sunday's races, which began at the Olney Snowmobile Trailhead.
Vincent won the 12-dog-team race, which ran a 36-mile trail twice. Three teams competed.
Meanwhile, Mooney won the six-dog-team race, which ran a 24.5-mile trail twice. Eight teams competed.
Information was not available on the Sunday and final combined times -though placement information was available.

n First: Rodeo Vincent of West Yellowstone.
n Second, Rick Wannamaker of Didsbury, Alberta.
n Third: Steve Riggs of Condon.
Six-dog teams
n First: Charlotte Mooney of West Yellowstone.
n Second: Wendy Arrotta of Condon.
n Third: Sara Parr of Whitefish.
n Fourth: Scott Donaldson of Olney.
nFifth: Dena Wannamaker of Didsbury, Alberta.
n Sixth: Brenda Birrell of Cranbrook, British Columbia.
n Seventh: Butch Parr of Whitefish.
n Eighth: Josi Thyr of Cataldo, Idaho.
