Kalispell police

Kalispell police arrested a man, 51, on a fifth, felony offense of driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Whitefish Stage Road Monday night.

The department issued a warning Tuesday afternoon for motorists to avoid the intersection of Meridian and Center Street because of malfunctioning control arms on the railroad tracks. A disabled train caused the arms to lower, temporarily blocking the road.

Police responded to a rash of 27 complaints about parked or abandoned cars on snow-clogged roads. The cars have been posted with warnings to be moved within 72 hours.

Officers responded to a disturbance on Ashley Drive in which a man and a woman were counseled.

There was a report Tuesday morning of tires slashed on several vehicles belonging to guests staying at a hotel on North Main Street.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the same hotel later in the morning.

There were 84 calls for service between 3:15 p.m. Monday and 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Flathead County sheriff

Flathead County Sheriff's deputies got a report of young people throwing firecrackers out of the back of a vehicle that was heading down Big Mountain Road Monday evening.

A report of a deer falling through the ice on the Flathead River south of Sportsmans Bridge was referred to a state game warden.

A wallet was reported stolen from a purse left in an unlocked vehicle on Springdale Drive in Evergreen.

A hole was knocked into a door at the Church of Creston, but it appeared that nothing was taken from the church.

A man, 48, was arrested for partner assault after an altercation with a woman at a residence off U.S. 93 north of Kalispell.

Deputies broke up a disturbance between a man and a woman on Ridgewood Drive in Evergreen.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a woman, 35, for a contempt of court warrant after she turned herself in at the station Tuesday.

Officers are investigating a report of an assault that reportedly occurred at a residence on Edgewood Place.

There were 35 calls for service between 3:15 p.m. Monday and 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Columbia Falls police

Early Tuesday near a Nucleus Avenue bar, Columbia Falls police arrested a man, 20, for being a minor in possession of alcohol, obstructing a police officer and a probation violation; another man, 20, was arrested for DUI, obstructing a police officer and being in possession of alcohol.

The department received 35 calls for service between 3:15 p.m. Monday and 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Alarms

The Evergreen Fire Department and Northwestern Energy responded to a gas leak at Kari Dodge on U.S. 2 in Evergreen Tuesday.

The Flathead County Office of Emergency Services responded after a man reported that he had found old, "oozing" explosives at a residence on Bowdish Road.

Police officers and the Columbia Falls Fire Department evacuated the Pamida store on U.S. 2 for a gas leak Tuesday morning.
