Ronald Anthony Marsall, 73, passed away suddenly while enjoying time with his family on New Year's Eve 2008. He was born in Anaconda on Jan. 9, 1935, to Anton and Theresa (Ehlman) Marsall.

He moved to Seattle and joined the Marine Corps in 1953. He later moved back to Montana, and in 1964, worked on the re-construction of Highway 93 through Lakeside, where he met and married Sandra K. Herron. Together they had three children, Jeff, Kelly and Tracy.

Ron worked mostly in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a top-notch ranch hand and loved working with cattle and horses.

He was a very generous person and was always glad to give of what he had. You could always count on him to lend a hand whenever it was needed.

He lived a lot of life and knew many things that we are grateful he imparted to others.

In 1994, Ron met Cheryl Williams, who became his best friend and companion. The other loves in his life were hunting, fishing, his family (especially his grandchildren), his cat, and telling stories about all of the above.

Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Al; his sister, Shirley; and his son, Mark.

He is survived by his companion, Cheryl Williams; his children, son, Jeff Marsall; daughters, Kelly Marsall, and Tracy Wise and husband, Charles, and their three children, Trista, Tanaia and Walker, all of Kalispell; also daughter, Crystal Murphy, of Helena, and her three children, Trevor, Christopher and William, and their children; his two brothers, Bob Marsall, and his wife, Judy, of Oregon, and Gary Marsall and his wife, Annette, of Utah; his stepmother, Nellie Tralmes, of Washington; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and "outlaws." He also leaves behind his cat, "Zipper," who will miss him very much!

A memorial celebration for Ron will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Flathead Valley Cowboy Church, located 1.25 miles north of West Reserve Drive on Highway 93, with Pastor Paul Arends officiating. Check your guns at the door and join us for a light reception immediately following the service. Final inurnment will be at the Wise family cemetery sometime after the snow melts.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent in Ron's name to the Flathead FFA Chapter, c/o FHS, 644 Fourth Ave. W., Kalispell, MT 59901; or maybe you just want to have an adventure today in his memory and really "live" in this life, as Ron did.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for Ron's family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to offer condolences and sign Ron's guest book.
