Columbia Falls boys trip Libby

COLUMBIA FALLS - Grants Getts tallied 11 points and Columbia Falls clamped down on Libby in the middle quarters as the Wildcats rolled to a 57-34 Northwestern A boys basketball victory on Thursday.

Columbia Falls (4-2 overall and 1-0 league) held Libby to two points in the second quarter and four in the third period.

"We played very good defense," Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

"We were very sound with what we were trying to do. The kids played hard."

Libby (4-2 and 1-1) was led by TJ Benson's 10 points.

BIGFORK - Plains got the early jump on Bigfork (0-4) en route to a six-point nonconference victory.

Plains (7-0) led 16-9 and 28-19 after the first two quarter stops.

Brock Boll had a double-double for Bigfork with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Teammate Garrett Pewe finished with 10 points, six assists and five steals.

Bigfork was playing its first home game of the season.

MISSOULA - Glacier gave Western AA leader Missoula Sentinel a run for its money.

Glacier (3-2 overall and 0-1 in league) never trailed by more than 10 points.

"It was a very good step for us," Glacier coach Doug Hashley said.

"I was very excited to see us play that well against a good Sentinel team."

Sentinel (6-1 and 2-0), was led by Bree Bates and Brette Rubie, both tallied 12 points.

Emilee Hashley had 13 for Glacier.

Bigfork (2-2 overall) was led by Roxy Thurman, 12 points, and Caitlin Charlebois, 10.
