Cornelius Alvin 'Conn' Meckler, 84

Cornelius Alvin "Conn" Meckler, passed away at the Columbia Falls Montana Veterans Home on Jan. 12, 2009. He was born Oct. 6, 1924, in Sidney.

He is survived by his daughter, Connie Fawcett, of Whitefish; son, Gerald Meckler, of Kalispell; brother, Joe Meckler, of Sparks, Nev.; grandson, Jason Fawcett, and Erin, of Seattle; nephews, Brett and Billy and Jimmy Michels; cousin, Dick Meckler, of Condon; special friend, Marg Lang, of Calgary, Alberta; and many other nieces and nephews and cousins.

Conn was an avid motorcyclist and snowmobiler and had many friends in the Missoula area. On his many trips by motorcycle, he was always accompanied by his faithful dog Beanzie.

As owner of Meckler's Unholstery, he was well-known for his skilled craftmanship.

He was a member of the Eagles and much sought after by the ladies for his dancing skills.

A memorial service is being planned for Conn in Missoula for late May or early June and an announcement will precede this date once it has been arranged.
