David E. Moore, 65
David E. Moore, 65, passed away at his residence in Kila on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009. David was born July 15, 1943, in Havre, to Roy and Mildred (Marshall) Moore. He graduated from Havre High in 1961.
After graduation, he enlisted in the National Guard and then went into active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving in the Marines he returned to the National Guard, where he stayed until reaching full retirement.
Dave served as a police officer in Havre, then in Columbia Falls. He then went to the Marshall Islands where he worked as a security guard for a few years. He then returned to Kalispell in 1993, where he started working at the Alternative Youth Care Center, where he was currently employed at the time of his death.
Dave was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., Montana Sheriff and Peace Officer Association and was a volunteer EMT.
Dave had a passion for horses. He was a member of the Back Country Horse Club where he enjoyed his time with the club clearing trails. His second passion was guns. He was an avid sports shooter. He was also a certified concealed weapons instructor. Dave had many other hobbies and was looking forward to doing them full time - fishing, hunting, scuba diving, traveling, horseback riding, camping and wine-making.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred Moore; stepmother, Netti Moore; brothers, Vance, Lloyd and Earl Kardell; sister, Lucille Kickbusch; niece, Jola Dorlarque; and a son, Roy Alan Moore.
Dave is survived by his stepdaughter, Tony Gervais, of Hungry Horse; daughter, Brenda, and Chuck Cox, son, Gary, and Christine Moore, and brother, Martin Kardell, all of Havre; grandsons, Jason Cross of Billings, David Cross of Great Falls, and Alex and Geoffry Moore of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; granddaughter, Amber Cox, of Havre; great-granddaughter, Averi Lander, of Great Falls; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kimbra Green.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Outlaw Inn.
