Flathead County sheriff's deputies are investigating reports that a man beat up the child of his Lakeside girlfriend. Deputies responded to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where the child was being treated, late Wednesday night.

The owner of a pawn shop on U.S. 93 South was upset that a front-end loader had been parked blocking the business's driveway.

A Wettington Drive student called deputies with questions about what to do about other students harassing him in school.

Deputies were called to Nicholson Drive to break up an argument between a man and his son after a neighbor heard the altercation and notified authorities.

An Evergreen-area resident told deputies a friend took his 2000 Ford Taurus without permission. In an unrelated incident, a Lore Lake Road man lent the vehicle given to him by his father to someone who took it out of state and now won't bring it back.

A Gordon Avenue resident spotted a mountain lion in their driveway.

Deputies were asked to find a driver involved in a hit and run crash on Montana 40. The driver eventually was located by city police in Whitefish.

Deputies responded to Valley View Terrace after a resident complained that the occupants of a car, which was parked on their property, walked toward a nearby lake.

Deputies received 134 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kalispell police

A Bluecrest Drive resident called Kalispell police to complain about the neighbor's dogs, which keep using his yard as a bathroom.

Officers arrested a

47-year-old woman on suspicion of stealing from a box store on U.S. 93 North and a 33-year-old woman on suspicion of theft while investigating reports of a suspicious person outside Flathead High School.

A bus driver on First Avenue West noticed a man urinating in public and called police. He was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Officers spoke with a girl making prank phone calls to a business on U.S. 2.

A man returned from the bars and accused a Glenwood Drive woman of stealing $100, then he allegedly pushed her. When officers responded, the disturbance was verbal and the parties were separated. He was warned to take care of an outstanding warrant.

Someone in a Ford truck on Windward Way took out a row of mailboxes.

Vehicles were broken into on Vanderbilt Drive.

Officers received 66 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police received 31 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police were told that 2 1/2 buckets of quarters were taken from a pickup parked outside a restaurant on U.S. 2.

Officers arrested a 40-year-old Dawn Drive woman on a warrant for aggravated assault.

Officers received 18 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

The Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to a one-story residence on Glacier Drive after its occupants noticed smoke coming from the downstairs area. When firefighters arrived, they found no smoke or flames.

The Kalispell Fire Department contained and then extinguished a chimney fire on Seventh Street West.

The Creston Fire Department responded to a residence on Lake Blaine Road after smoke was noticed in the home, but quickly cleared the scene.

Three Rivers EMS and the Middle Fork Quick Response Unit responded to reports of a crash on U.S. 2 near Marias Pass. Turns out the vehicle, which was steaming, was unoccupied and no crash appears to have occurred.
