Whitefish's Kelsey Schmid-Sommer earned her third top 10 finish in as many days at the Telemark World Championships in Kreischberg, Austria, on Saturday.

Schmid-Sommer, 32, placed eighth on the final day of competition in the women's Sprint Classic. Sixteen-year-old Lorin Paley of Steamboat Springs, Colo., finished in sixth place in the women's race and won the junior women's event. The pair were the only skiers from the U. S. to finish in the top 10 of the women's race.

Schmid-Sommer took seventh place in the women's Giant Slalom on Wednesday and was the only skier from the U. S. to break into the top 18. On Thursday she placed eighth in the women's Classic run.

Peter McMahon, 37, of Whitefish finished in 28th place in the men's Sprint Classic on Saturday and took 41st place in the men's Classic on Thursday.

Schmid-Sommer will look to defend her three-straight titles at the United States Telemark National Championships in Steamboat Springs starting Feb. 26 and ending on March 1. More than 100 competitors are expected to compete in the men's and women's events.
