Kalispell physician Annie Bukacek is at the helm of a new statewide pro-life coalition that intends to heavily lobby state lawmakers to advance legislation that "protects human life at all ages and stages."

The Montana ProLife Coalition was organized out of a need for greater grass-roots pro-life activism on a state level, Bukacek said in a press release. The group pledges aggressive legislative, political and educational advocacy for unborn children.

Bukacek is acting president. Other organizers are Lewistown pastor Robert Snyder, state legislators Rick Jore of Ronan and Roger Koopman of Bozeman, and retired Lewistown businessman Bill Biernat.

Among the bills supported by the new coalition is Senate Bill 46, creating by referendum a constitutional amendment protecting unborn life as a compelling state interest.

Montana ProLife Coalition also would back legislation strengthening parental notification requirements for minors and a proposed bill voicing opposition to the federal Freedom of Choice Act.

"Other pro-life measures are being discussed," Bukacek said, "including a personhood amendment similar to that of CI-100.

"If we don't stand up for those who can't speak for themselves and vigorously oppose their slaughter, we contribute to the progressive decline of this nation," Bukacek said.
