Olney's Davis wins Siskiyou Sled Dog Race

Katie Davis of Olney won the 174-mile Siskiyou Sled Dog Race near the Mt. Shasta Wilderness area in California with a time of 21 hours, 8 minutes.

The 12-dog event began last Friday at Deer Mountain Memorial Snowmobile Park.

Davis was the first musher checking in at all six check points.

This was billed as California's first Iditarod Qualifier.

Bino Fowler of Bend, Ore., was second, 24:24:00.

There was also a 12-dog, 105-mile race, a six-dog, uphill and back down event, a six-dog, 18.6-mile race, and a 2-dog, six-mile race.
