Martin, Mee push Libby past Eureka

LIBBY - The Libby Loggers shots the lights out from 3-point range on Friday night and came away with a 52-35 nonconference victory over Eureka, 6-7 overall.

Brittany Martin hit four 3-pointers and led the Loggers with 20 points.

Jackie Mee had three 3-pointers and Larona Luscher had two.

"Mariah Newell had a pretty good game for us," said Eureka coach John Hammond.

Newell scored 16 points and brought down 12 rebounds.

"They're a pretty solid team," Hammond said of the Loggers.

"We knew Martin and Mee were the people we needed to stop and we didn't get it done tonight."

Eureka is at Pablo tonight to take on St. Ignatius in a doubleheader at Salish-Kootenai College.

Helena High 46, Flathead 37

HELENA - Kelsey Hildal scored 17 points in a losing effort for the Flathead Bravettes.

The Bravettes led 27-22 at the half, but a 10-point second half killed the effort.

Ariel Johnson added six points and 11 rebounds, and freshman Tess Brenneman added eight points for Flathead.

Monica Grimsrud paced the Bengals with 10 points.

Flathead, 0-3 league and 0-11 overall, plays at Helena Capital today.

HELENA - Emilee Hashley scored 16 points, had 11 rebounds and two steals in a losing effort for the Glacier Wolfpack.

Rachel Cutler added nine points and Kayla Smart contributed five points, five assists and two steals for Glacier, which fell to 4-7, 0-3.

Kelsi Brekke scored 33 for the Bruins, 10-1, 5-0.

Capital outscored Glacier 14-8 for a 38-30 edge.

Columbia Falls 49, Bigfork 43

BIGFORK - The DeWit sisters acted as the one-two punch and the Columbia Falls girls took down Northwestern A conference-foe Bigfork.

Kayla and Kelsey DeWit scored 15 points apiece and Alyssa Ladenburg added 14 points for the first-place Wildkats, 7-5 overall and 5-0 in conference.

The Wildkats scored 14 of their 20 fourth-quarter points from the free throw line.

Roxy Thurman scored a game-high 19 points for Bigfork, 7-4, 3-2. Mallery Knoll scored nine and Kailey Fierro chipped in seven.
