Frankie Bales Griffing Hiatt, 99

Frankie Bales Griffing Hiatt, 99, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at her residence in Kalispell. She was born on Jan. 1, 1910, to Luther Delbert and Nancy Noticia (Holman) Bales.

Frankie received her early education in Missouri before marrying Ralph Philo Troutman in Springfield on June 23, 1923. To this union two children were born, George Luther Troutman and Betty Jean Scoggin. Frankie later married Charles Joseph Griffing on Sept. 6, 1941, in Missoula.

In the early 1960s she attended the Missoula Business College, receiving her N.S.D.A; she became a securities dealer and worked for Waddell and Reed for a couple of years.

Frankie enjoyed crocheting and sewing when she was able. She also started the Missoula Kennel Club and showed her Pomeranians.

Following Charles' death in 1977, Frankie married Lon L. Hiatt in Missoula. He passed away on Aug. 6, 2002.

Frankie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1977; Lon on Aug. 6, 2002; son, George Luther, in 2009; and one grandson.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean Scoggin; five grandsons; three great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services for Frankie Bales Griffing Hiatt will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home, with Pastor Dick Bishop officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 20, at the Victor Cemetery in Victor.
