Two injured in two-vehicle crash on U.S. 93

Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon in a crash on U.S. 93 south of Kalispell.

A 24-year-old woman with head trauma and her 14-year-old passenger were taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center via ground ambulance after the wreck, according to Montana Highway Patrol Trooper David Mills.

The driver of the other vehicle involved, a Ford F250 pickup truck, suffered minor injuries.

The 24-year-old woman was driving a Subaru station wagon southbound on U.S. 93 about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday when she tried to pass the pickup truck but clipped its rear end, Mills said.

The collision sent both vehicles sliding off the road, where the Subaru hit some large logs marking an entrance off the highway.

Mills, who said he does not believe alcohol or excessive speed were factors in the crash, said all three people were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the Subaru will be cited for following too closely, driving without insurance, and driving with an expired registration, Mills said.
