Maybe the deer wanted to do some wind sprints when it wandered onto the high school football field late Saturday morning, but officers helped it find a spot in the fence to exit.

There's a bear out there with a sore foot. At least that's what two callers told dispatchers when a car apparently ran over its foot Friday night. It ran off into the trees near the west entrance to Glacier National Park.

A mother on Helena Flats Road put her 8-year-old daughter to bed around 11 p.m., then panicked when she couldn't find her about a half-hour later. She reportedly scoured the house before finding the girl curled up at the foot of the bed.

An inmate at the Flathead County jail opted to tear up his shoes and stuff them down the drain in the soft cell instead of sleeping at 3:30 a.m. Saturday. It earned him a criminal mischief charge.

The sheriff's office received 196 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Kalispell police

It was a contentious night on Hilltop Avenue. First, the neighbors reportedly blared loud music; Kalispell police determined it was not loud. A hour later they reportedly still had loud music and were in the back yard bad-mouthing the police by way of a public address system; police said the yard was quiet, the music was off and the party was wrapping up. Three hours after that, it was a complaint that they were outside singing over the P.A. system; police had a good discussion with them and they turned off the music and went inside.

A 911 caller hung up, but dispatchers got her back on the line early Saturday. She said she'd been having an argument with her husband but all was OK by then. He was advised of his outstanding warrant, but wasn't jailed because there was no space for him.
