A 77-year-old Wyoming man was killed late Saturday night in a rollover crash on the North Fork Road.

The man, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Flathead County coroners.

A passenger, a 60-year-old man, suffered only minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

Investigators believe the man was driving south on the North Fork Road near mile marker 12 about 11:50 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, hit a guardrail on the other side of the road, and then rolled his 2007 Dodge pickup truck one-and-a-half times.

The pickup came to rest on its top in the middle of road, which at that point is gravel.

Excessive speed was a factor in the crash. It is yet unknown if alcohol contributed to the wreck, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

The man is the 12th person to die in crashes on Flathead County roads this year.
