Flathead High School Activities Director Frank Jobe has announced that Karly Tait will be the new head coach of the Bravettes girls basketball team, pending school board approval.
Tait, a former Polson High School standout, was named Tuesday to replace Kim Elliott.
Tait has been in the FHS program one year, coaching the junior varsity last season. Prior to that, she was the head coach at Cascade for five years.
Cascade, a member of Class B, advanced to state for the first time in school history under Tait in 2007-2008. The Badgers won their first-round game, but dropped the next two.
Tait enjoyed a successful college career on the hard court playing for University of Montana Western.
Elliott resigned as head coach earlier this spring. He spent three seasons on the bench, leading the Bravettes to a third-place finish at state in 2007.
Flathead advanced to state twice under Elliott.
He was 33-36 overall, 17-19 in Western AA play. His best season was his first, 18-7. FHS was 2-19 for 2008-09.
Tait is a sixth-grade teacher at Kalispell Middle School.
