In a somewhat bizarre theft, wheels and tires stolen off a car at a business on Montana 35 were replaced with cheaper rims but a better set of tires. New lug nuts also were installed. The alleged thief, however, still made out on the deal. Flathead County Sheriff's deputies are investigating.

Gas was stolen from a vehicle at a Columbia Falls golf course. A splitting maul and other tools were taken from a shed on Second Avenue South in Hungry Horse, sometime within the last two months.

A Conrad Drive woman claims her husband stole her modem, denying her Internet access.

An inmate at the Flathead County juvenile detention center vandalized a mirror. She allegedly scratched some marks into it.

A Solberg Drive woman told deputies her neighbor gave her 15-year-old daughter a pill "or something."

A motorist on Montana 35 near Creston complained that confused Department of Transportation flaggers at a construction site had traffic going the wrong way, almost causing a crash.

A Teakettle Road resident reportedly captured on video a neighbor shooting a dog with a BB gun.

Five men on a dock at Foy's Lake were drinking beer, using foul language, and controlling access to the water. Deputies responded and arrested one of them, a 21-year-old man, on a misdemeanor warrant for contempt of court.

A resident on Montana 40 told game wardens the den of foxes underneath the shed took over the yard.

Deputies responded to the park near the Old Steel Bridge after two separate woman reported a man walking around in a G-string. He was gone when authorities arrived.

Kalispell police

A child was hit by a car on Empire Loop, but was talking and appeared to be not seriously injured. Medical units were not dispatched, but the child was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. Kalispell police responded.

Flowers were pulled outside a health food store on South Main Street, prompting the proprietors to request extra patrols in the area.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old man on warrants, a seat-belt violation, driving without insurance, and driving without a license during a traffic stop on First Avenue West.

Used car batteries in large quantities were reported stolen on North Meridian Road. Items were stolen from a car in a Fourth Avenue West North garage. A video camera went missing from outside a business on Main Street.

A woman punched another woman in the head on Farview Drive, possibly breaking her nose.

Officers counseled a 16-year-old boy whose mother threw him out of their Second Street West home.

A Seventh Avenue West man received harassing phone calls. The culprit turned out to be his little brother.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police are investigating reports of an assault at a motel on U.S. 93 south of downtown. A 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attacking a laundry worker and manager.

Officers arrested a 54-year-old woman for trespassing at a Whitefish subdivision. She reportedly was squatting.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police are investigating an arson complaint at the baseball fields on Talbot Road. Someone burned the porta-potties to the ground about 4 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

The Evergreen Fire Department was twice called to check on a smoldering slash pile behind a sporting goods store at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Montana 35. A burn permit had been issued.

The ALERT helicopter and the Olney Fire Department responded to U.S. 93 north of Whitefish after a woman ran her car off the road. Injured occupants were taken to the hospital.

The Evergreen Fire Department and Kalispell Fire Department were paged to Montana 35 in Evergreen after a bicyclist was struck by a car. She was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with a head injury.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a drug store on Main and Idaho streets after a pedestrian was hit by a car in the parking lot. The victim, who was conscious and talking, was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
