Players needed for Miracle Field

After more than two years of planning and preparation, the valley's most unique baseball field is on the verge of opening.

The Kidsports Miracle Field has a rubberized surface that provides a smooth, safe place for people with physical and mental disabilities to play baseball, soccer and other sports.

Lines and bases are painted on the surface, ensuring a no-trip place to play.

Local service groups and clubs raised money for the field and anxiously awaited its completion. Nearly everything is in place for the grand opening celebration, which is scheduled for 2 p.m. June 27.

The only thing Miracle Field lacks is players for exhibition baseball games that afternoon. The games are open to anyone age 6 and older who has special needs.
