On June 19 - 50 years after he was attacked by a grizzly bear in Glacier National Park - Joseph Williams will present a lecture in Kalispell about the life-altering experience.
Williams will reflect on the evening of June 18, 1959, when he was attacked by a female grizzly bear while hiking up Mount Altyn.
His 45-minute struggle is one of the longest known human-bear encounters in which the human survived. Williams was helped by Don Dayton, a heroic park ranger.
Free and open to the public, the lecture will be at Flathead Valley Community College at 7 p.m. in the Arts and Technology Building large community meeting room.
