Knights upended

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The steamrolling Glacier Knights just ran out of steam.
The Knights jumped ahead on the first possession with a 70-yard drive turned touchdown, but couldn't muster another as the Utah Valley Desperados stopped Glacier cold 49-7 in the opening round of the Rocky Mountain Football League AA playoffs on Saturday.
Running back Mike Pan earned Glacier's only touchdown with an 8-yard carry into the endzone. Pan finished with 15 yards on six carries.
The lead evaporated rather quickly in the second quarter when Utah Valley scored twice in under a minute, first on a run and then right after a fumbled kickoff return by Glacier.
Mike Kuehne led the Knights in rushing with 48 yards on 14 carries. Quarterback Jeff Greenwell finished 9-of-19 with 124 yards and an interception. Jesse Shaw led the Glacier defense with eight tackles, followed by Kyle Holloway and Shane Thompson, who had seven apiece.
This was the first playoff appearance for the Knights. They finish the season 6-3, the best finish for the semi-professional club in its six-year history.
