Cannon, Loggers win Bucks opener

LIBBY - Colt Cannon took care of business from the mound and in the batter's box on Friday and led the host Loggers to a 5-2 American Legion baseball victory over the Tri-County Cardinals on the first day of the Big Bucks Tournament.
Cannon threw a complete game two-hitter, striking out four, and added an RBI triple for Libby, who face Calgary, Alberta, today at 6:15 p.m., followed by a game with the South Hill Stingers.
"To win a low scoring ballgame you have to play well," Libby coach Kelly Morford said.
Libby put together a string of scoring in the middle innings led by Dustin Morningstar, who went 1-for-3 with a RBI, and Chris Herbig, who added an RBI double.
Libby, who took third at this tourney last year but returns only two starters this season, sealed the victory with a double play with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh.
