Two Flathead High School students are among the finalists in a national duct tape prom-wear contest.

Charden Wood and Steven Quade advanced to the top 10 from among more than 200 entries in the Duck brand tape's "Stuck at Prom" contest.

They have the chance to receive $3,000 each in scholarship money, plus another $3,000 for their school.

Wood first saw the use of duct tape for clothes in sixth grade in the Destination ImagiNation program that teaches students how to work together to solve problems. She went to global finals with her group that year and that was when the world of duct tape was opened to her.

For their junior prom outfits, the team went with a classic look - Wood wearing a flamenco-style dress and Quade sporting a pinstriped suit and cane. It took the teens about a month to complete their duct-tape outfits.

Their creations put them among the 10 finalists in the "Stuck at Prom" contest.

The winner will be determined by online voting.

To vote, go to www.stuckatprom.com.

People can vote every day, once a day, per e-mail address through July 2. The winners will be announced July 9.

"If you have more than one e-mail address, use both," Wood said in a press release.

"And spread the word to your family and friends."
