Grant Alfred Pound, 73, of Kalispell went to his "happy hunting grounds' on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009. Grant rejoins his mother, Florance Landon Hanson, and father, Victor Pound, and beloved son, Jody Pound, as well as his brothers, Carrol and Cappi Pound, and Edward Pound.

Grant leaves behind his wife, Florence Pound, of Kalispell; daughter, Minta Johnson and husband, Joe, of Kalispell; and brothers and sisters, Doreen Grilley of Kalispell, Victor "Pete" Pound of Silverdale, Wash., Sheila Garcia of Greeley, Colo., Leora "Tootsie" O'Myer of Kalispell, and Terry Pound of Kalispell. Grant is loved and missed by his grandchildren, Bryce and Carlye Johnson, of Kalispell.

Grant was born Nov. 22, 1935, in Whitefish to Victor and Florance Landon Pound. He lived in Eureka and Kalispell for most of his life.

He married Florence Burlingham on June 24, 1967, in Kalispell.

Grant had worked construction, logging and at the Libby Dam.

Grant truly was a jack-of-all-trades. He was a very generous person and was always glad to give of what he had. You could always count on him to lend a hand whenever it was needed.

Grant enjoyed first and foremost his grandchildren. He also enjoyed quilting, miniature trains, being busy, gardening, growing grapes and teaching his grandson how to whittle.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka. There will be a potluck gathering at the Baptist Church following the services. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home in Eureka.
