Eureka's Newell named all-state for B basketball

Mariah Newell, a 5-foot-11 senior center for Eureka, has been to the Class A all-state girls basketball team.

Joining Newell on the all-state list from District 7B are Mattea Grant, 5-6 senior, from Mission and Rheanna Padden, a 5-9 senior from Thompson Falls.

Newell was 7B's top scorer, averaing 14.8 points per game.

Padden averaged 12 points for the regular season and Grant 11.

Newell also was named to the 7B all-conference first team along with teammate Auna Lawler, a 5-6 senior.

Eureka had two second-team all-conference selections in Steph Vogelman, a 5-0 junior, and Carli Hammond, a 5-8 junior.
