Flathead County Sheriff's deputies responded to Caroline Road after a man's girlfriend allegedly attacked his mother, hitting her in the face. Deputies didn't arrest either of the women, but the 30-year-old man had an outstanding warrant for felony DUI. He was taken to jail.

The U.S. Secret Service told sheriff's deputies that a group of Hispanic men driving an unknown rental car with California plates are suspected of passing counterfeit $100 bills in Montana. The bills, which do not show that they are counterfeit when a detecting pen is used, have a slight "tackiness' to them and "ridges' in the ink, according to investigators. If a suspected counterfeit bill is located, please contact the sheriff's office at 758-5610.

Someone tossed a box full of garbage and a tire into the Stillwater River. A witness called authorities.

It appears someone tried to pry open the door to a Bigfork condo, but failed to get inside.

Unbeknownst to a U.S. 93 resident, a friend took his car and got it stuck near Stillwater State Forest. He called deputies to report the possible theft, but the parties involved agreed to work it out.

Despite being told it was the wrong phone number, a caller wouldn't quit dialing a Cedar Lane resident.

A passerby found a decapitated deer in the Bigfork area and, thinking it may have been poached, alerted authorities.

A Martin City resident called deputies to inform them a bird had slammed into her window several hours prior and she was now caring for it.

Kalispell police

A man on First Avenue West told Kalispell police he had been assaulted by a large bald man with tattoos on his head. The alleged victim was taken to the hospital.

A woman at an East Idaho Street motel called to report that a man threatened to beat up her son during an altercation that arose out of a driving complaint. Neither side, however, wanted to press charges.

Officers responded to a Sixth Avenue West residence after a woman found an open window at her house.

People in a parking lot on Appleway Drive with loud music playing from their car agreed to take it inside.

Officers were called to the emergency room at Kalispell Regional Medical Center after a man released from care refused to leave.

A man wanted to speak with officers about his wife, who abandoned him and stole from him.

Someone on Fourth Avenue East received harassing phone messages.

More than $6,000 allegedly was charged to a Liberty Street resident's credit card, prompting them to file a theft report with police.

Officers received 43 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of partner assault after responding to a disturbance at a Kalispell Avenue residence.

Officers arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of DUI during a traffic stop on Edgewood Place.

Officers received 38 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police are investigating the theft of a musical instrument from the high school.

A cell phone was reported stolen from a business on U.S. 2. In an unrelated incident, a purse was stolen on Nucleus Avenue.

Officers received 23 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

The Kalispell Fire Department and West Valley Fire Department were paged to Rhodes Draw after a resident fell.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a health center off U.S. 93 North to treat a 20-year-old woman who hit her head while at the pool. She was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

The Evergreen Fire Department extinguished a fire under a residence on U.S. 2. Someone reportedly had been trying to thaw frozen pipes.

The Evergreen Fire Department also responded to a parking lot off U.S. 2 for what was reported as a truck on fire. Turns out a short in some wires was producing the smoke.
