Orvid Karsten Berge, 79

Orvid Karsten Berge, 79, died March 11, 2009, at his home in Whitefish. Karsten was born July 29, 1929, to Olaf and Naime (Nansen) Berge. He was raised and schooled in the Winger/McIntosh, Minn., area.

Karsten served in the 2nd Division of the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He owned and operated Berge Store in Winger, Minn., for many years.

In 1969, the Berges moved to Whitefish where he owned several businesses, including Sandra's Clothing and Babe's.

Karsten is survived by his wife, Arlene "Babe," of 56 years; and four children, Sandra Berge and husband, Kelly Conrad, of Bend, Ore., Erik Berge of Whitefish, Jon Berge of Columbus, Ohio, and Naime Berge of Minnetonka, Minn. He also had five grandchildren, AK, Caitlin and Naime Conrad, and Max and Grace Stillman.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family memorial will be held this summer in Whitefish.
