Kalispell manager list down to two

One of three candidates for the Kalispell city manager position has withdrawn from consideration.
David Johnston of Rantoul, Ill., contacted Myrt Webb, the city's interim manager, and told him that he is considering a position elsewhere.
The other two candidates will arrive in Kalispell for interviews next week.
John "Jay" Krauss of Lewiston, Idaho, and Robert Stockwell of Riverton, Utah, will be greeted with a public reception at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Central School Museum.
On Friday, they will tour the city and meet with Webb.
Formal interviews with the City Council will begin at 1 p.m. Friday. The interviews will be open to the public.
Krauss is the city manager of Lewiston, Idaho, and recently was an unsuccessful candidate for Whitefish city manager.
He has family and a vacation home in Eureka. He has been Lewiston's city manager since February 2006. The city has a $54 million budget and 270 employees.
Krauss previously was city manager of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., city administrator of Niagara, Wis., and village administrator of Huntley, Ill.
Stockwell currently is a financial adviser in Utah. He has headed his own financial company since 2007.
He was city manager for Great Falls prior to 1990 and has been city manager for Sunnyside, Wash; Alamogordo, N.M.; West Jordan, Utah; Eureka, Calif.; and Sparks, Nev.
He also was the chief administrative officer for Provo, Utah.
