A $250,000 federal grant to rehabilitate a taxiway at Glacier Park International Airport is on its way.
It's part of $5.45 million in U.S. Department of Transportation grant funding awarded to four Montana airports that Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester, both Democrats, announced on Friday.
Great Falls International Airport will receive $2.4 million to rehabilitate a taxiway, Helena Regional Airport will get $1 million to repair taxiway lighting and White Sulphur Springs won $1.8 milliion to repair a runway.
Baucus chairs the Senate Finance Committee and Tester sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Both lauded the decision as a good investment in Montana communities.
"This is a smart investment in basic infrastructure that will rebuild our economy," Tester said.
"Montana's a big state and we rely on air travel to do business, host visitors and for medical care," Baucus said. "These dollars will go a long way."
