Firefighters extinguished a structure fire early Thursday morning that gutted a home on Mountain Drive in Hungry Horse. The blaze appears to have started in the chimney and then spread onto the roof as the occupants slept. The fire reportedly was discovered at about 2:50 a.m. by a passing sheriff's deputy, who awoke the family. The Hungry Horse Fire Department, Coram Fire Department, and Martin City Fire Department responded.

Flathead County sheriff

Several carloads of oddly dressed youths, kicked out of a cemetery on Conrad Drive, were gone when Flathead County sheriff's deputies arrived.

The motion light at a Bigfork cookie shop kept going on, but deputies found nothing amiss.

An intoxicated woman yelling and sitting in the grass off Bierney Creek Road in Lakeside was given a ride home.

Someone delivering papers in Evergreen early Thursday morning told deputies he was being followed.

An unwanted man who showed up outside a Parliament Drive woman's home was told to leave and not come back.

Construction tools were stolen from a trailer near Whitefish. Deputies were back at the same development hours later when a passer-by noticed the door to a home was open. Nothing appeared to be missing.

A digital camera was reported missing on East Evergreen Drive. The back window to a car parked outside a Mexican restaurant in Bigfork was busted out and the stereo taken.

The intoxicated man harassing people outside a restaurant on U.S. 2 west of Kalispell was told to move along.

Deputies received 138 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kalispell police

A woman at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center emergency room told Kalispell police she had been assaulted at a school near Woodland Park. Officers later received a call from a different woman who accused the alleged victim of harassing her.

Youths reportedly were cutting on trees at Hawthorn Park. In other park-related mischief, minors were smoking cigarettes in Northridge Park. They were gone when officers arrived.

Officers arrested a man and woman, both in connection with partner assault, after an altercation on Ninth Avenue West. A knife that allegedly was used was stuck in the floor.

A man who thought he was going to get jumped and beat up in Woodland Park wasn't.

Officers settled an argument between a man and woman on Sixth Avenue East North. A Second Street West woman told police her husband slapped her across the face.

Despite reports, officers were unable to find a man yelling profanities at youths on Third Street West.

Officers received 80 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 62-year-old Florida man on suspicion of DUI during a traffic stop on Fox Hollow Lane.

Officers received 41 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police arrested a 20-year-old woman on a warrant for contempt of court on Martha Road.

A man fell outside a Nucleus Avenue bar. An ambulance was dispatched.

Officers received 23 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Alarms

The ALERT helicopter responded to Halvorson Drive near Bigfork to treat a 10-day-old baby who wasn't breathing. The infant was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a home on Ninth Avenue West after a stove caught fire. The flames were extinguished before the home was extensively damaged.
